I'm Ed.

I build websites.

I fix websites.

I make websites work better.

If you need any of those things done, I'd be delighted to hear from you.

What I do

  • I build new WordPress or plain HTML sites from your custom designs, or by using existing themes that I modify for you.
  • I migrate plain HTML sites and sites built in another content management system (like Drupal) to WordPress.
  • I maintain WordPress sites, and add new features to them.
  • I fix hacked or broken sites.
  • I help you find a selection of WordPress plugins that will do what you want done, and then configure and customise them so your site works the way you want it to.

What I don't do

I don't design sites from scratch. If you have a design already, I can turn it into a working site. If you have a clear idea of what you want, I can turn it into a real thing. If you need a designer, I can put you in touch with a great one.

I don't do major back-end coding (big and complicated custom WordPress plugins, for example). I work with smaller clients who don't need the added maintenance worry of lots of custom code on their sites. If your site, or a plugin on your site, needs some custom code to make it work the way you want, I can do that for you. If you want a major plugin designed from scratch, you need to work with a specialist back-end developer.

Here are some sites I've worked on:

Overcoming Social Anxiety

I did the rebuild for this WordPress site, which included implementing their new designs, integrating Aweber mailing lists and Clickbank payments, and setting up their private members' area.

White Heart Nut Butters

A new WordPress site with a WooCommerce online shop.

NZ Association of Psychotherapists

I migrated NZAP from Drupal to WordPress, and worked with them on a new design for their site. I set up integrations with Mailman and Mailchimp lists, as well as a private members' section with a public member register.

Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency

MMLA had a basic WordPress.com site, but wanted more control. I migrated them to self-hosted WordPress, and built a site with extensive custom post types to would allow them to easily add and feature new authors and books.

Silverdale Medical

This was a plain HTML site that I migrated into WordPress so that it was easier for them to maintain.

YUM Granola

A WordPress site with an online shop using WooCommerce.

Irish Imbas Books

This was a new WordPress site that I built for a local author. It includes integration with Gumroad for ebook and physical book sales.

A new site for a mountain bike skills company. It includes an events calendar for their general events, as well as a system for booking and paying for skills courses.

Here are some nice things people have said about me:

Not only did he do a fantastic job with my project but he went above and beyond. I can't speak highly enough of him after this job.

-John - Human Design

His refreshing approach to building a website put us at ease. He has a way of taking the complexity of a website and breaking it down in a way that is easy to understand. We provided content and photos, and Ed worked his magic to create a website that truly understands its potential clients.

-Ash - Word

Ed was fantastic!! We are so happy we chose him for our web development project, and we will be hiring him again next time we have another website we need developed. He works very quickly and is patient, professional, and very thorough. We asked a lot of questions throughout the process and Ed very patiently answered every single one of them in an organized, thorough, friendly way. We give him the highest recommendation.

-Sara - Practical Planning Book

Ed was just amazing, I can highly recommend him. He was very good at explaining the process (to a novice like myself), each step required and how the site was progressing. He was creative, flexible, and always listened + responded to my feedback + questions. Thanks so much Ed!

-Anna - White Heart

I occasionally build software tools

I built a task exporter for Asana a couple of years ago that people still look for. Perhaps you're here for that. If so, here it is.
